What is MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is a free program by the Australian Government that you can choose to sign up to.
This program will help health clinics and hospitals safely share your health information with your doctor so we can deliver good healthcare to you.
What are the benefits of MyMedicare?
The main benefits are:
- having one main doctor or health clinic looking after your health needs
- it will help your doctor understand the type of care you need
- all your health information will be sent to your chosen doctor/health clinic (e.g. North Richmond Community Health) when you visit the hospital or specialist.
Who can sign up?
You can sign up to MyMedicare if you have:
- a current Medicare card
- a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) card
- a concession card
- visited your doctor’s clinic 2 times in the last 2 years
How do I sign up for MyMedicare?
You can sign up for MyMedicare by:
- completing the MyMedicare Registration Form at North Richmond Community Health (NRCH). Please speak to one of our friendly reception staff and they can help you sign up; OR
- online on the Services Australia website: www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-online-account
Do I have to sign up for MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is voluntary meaning you can say ‘Yes’ to signing up or you can say ‘No’ if you don’t want to sign up.
What happens if I change doctors or clinics?
If you decide to sign up with a different clinic and a different doctor, you will be automatically removed from NRCH and your information will be moved to your new doctor and health clinic.
