Counselling and Casework
Talk through personal issues with a trained professional and get support with your wellbeing.
We provide short-term wellbeing and emotional support, as well as Medicare-funded psychology services, for individuals, children and families.
Our team supports people experiencing stress, emotional distress, relationship or family difficulties, parenting challenges, family violence and other life transitions.
You do not need to be in crisis to access support. Many people come to talk through challenges, build coping strategies and improve their wellbeing.
Our wellbeing services are delivered by qualified social workers and Psychologist.
Support is available face-to-face or via telehealth.

Social work
This service provides brief wellbeing support and emotional assistance for people experiencing stress, life changes, or emotional difficulties.
Support focuses on:
- maintaining wellbeing
- strengthening coping strategies
- improving day-to-day functioning
- connecting people with additional supports where needed
Who can access this service
Our services are available to people who live, work, study or have strong community connections in the City of Yarra.
Referrals are welcome from individuals, families, schools, health professionals and community services.

Interpreters
Telephone and on-site interpreters can be arranged in any language at no cost to you.
Family violence support
We provide free, short-term wellbeing and recovery-focussed support for women affected by family violence.
Support is trauma-informed, culturally safe and confidential and focuses on safety planning, recovery and connection with specialist services.
Who can access this service
Our service is available to adult victim-survivors of family violence who are cis women, trans women and gender-diverse people.
Interpreters
Telephone and on-site interpreters can be arranged in any language at no cost to you.
Psychology services
Update May 2026: Please note we are not currently taking new clients for this service.
Our registered psychologist provides evidence-based, trauma-informed and culturally-responsive care to help support emotional regulation, insight and sustainable change.
We offer individual therapy either face-to-face or via Telehealth.

Who can access this service
Our services are available to people who live, work, study or have strong community connections in the City of Yarra.
Fees
Medicare rebates are available if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) provided by a GP or a Psychiatrist Assessment and Management Plan (PAMP) provided by a Psychiatrist.
Full fees may apply otherwise.

Support for children
We provide school-based wellbeing support for children one day per week at:
- Richmond West Primary School
- Fitzroy Primary School
Support focuses on emotional wellbeing and is delivered in collaboration with schools and families.
Please contact your school directly to access this service.
Other services for children
North Richmond Community Health has a dedicated team of child health and development specialists who can help your child with nutrition and diet, occupational therapy and speech pathology.
