August 31 marks International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). IOAD is a global annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind.
Every day, North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) sees the impact of overdoses on our community. From responding directly to overdoses and monitoring people at risk of overdose to helping minimise the harms associated with drug use.
To mark IOAD this year, NRCH will be facilitating COVID-safe activities on Wednesday 31 August 2022, including hosting a free Community BBQ at the front of our centre. We hope through this event that we can help everyone understand how overdose affects us all and how you can make a difference.
Come join us to remember the loved ones we have lost. It’s time to Remember. It’s time to Act.
