On Thursday 17 October, our Counselling and Casework team organised activities to raise awareness for the impact of family violence and provide support for women and children.
Women from the community gathered in our Community Room and enjoyed painting t-shirts in an art therapy session originating from the Clothesline Project in Massachusetts. This was an opportunity to create a message of hope or awareness around violence against women and children.

This week marks the 20-year anniversary of the Week Without Violence (WWV).
One in three Australian women over the age of 15 has experienced physical or sexual violence and/or emotional abuse by an intimate partner.
Family violence takes a profound and long-term toll on women and children’s health and wellbeing and communities. Our Week Without Violence event provided a safe place for women and children to find support and a sense of calm through a free yoga session, free massages, art therapy and conversation.
Everyone deserves to be safe and free from violence and North Richmond Community Health stands with all survivors, today and every day – you are not alone.
Thank you to everyone who showed their support for Week Without Violence.
