Raising Awareness for Week Without Violence Campaign

Oct 19, 2020Latest News

This week North Richmond Community Health will promote the Week Without Violence (WWV) from 18 – 24 October. As a community, we stand united with victims and survivors of family violence.

We will hold our annual t-shirt painting event for women as part of the Clothesline Project, albeit virtually. Participants will paint drawings and words on t-shirts to provide hope and a path for healing. This has proven to be a significant time for women to come together to heal and support the victims and survivors of violence.

A study by Monash University shows the pandemic has increased womens vulnerability to all forms of gender-based violence. With more people confined to their homes, there is a greater risk of violence against women and children. This is a critical time to raise awareness and support for violence against women.

Our Counselling and Casework team offer support to people recovering from family violence and continue to do so during the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting Telehealth appointments. They also continue to provide weekly appointments to allow people to speak to someone about their issues and assist with making referrals and access to other relevant support services.

We hope you can join us in raising awareness for this important cause at this year’s t-shirt painting event. Please find our event information here. We also have a list of family violence services and information below.
