Our Community Paramedic clinic (CP@clinic) provides health care in your own community. Our Community Paramedics have specialist training to support adults with long‑term health problems (also called chronic conditions) that need ongoing care.

Our Community Paramedics can:

  • Do health checks
  • Talk with you about health risks such as high blood pressure or diabetes
  • Check in on how you’re feeling, including your mental health
  • Help you with your personal health goals.

The North Richmond Community Paramedic (CP@clinic) clinic is located on the North Richmond Estate and is for all adults (18 years and over) in the North Richmond Community.

The service is free, and you can just drop in – you don’t need to make an appointment.

 

Community Paramedics can help with:

  • Managing long-term (chronic) health issues
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Diabetes management
  • Managing weight in a healthy way
  • Referrals to other health professionals and services.
  • Supporting long term health goals.

Community Paramedics cannot:

  • Treat medical emergencies – Call 000
  • Diagnose complex health issues
  • Prescribe medicine

If you need extra support for your health, our Community Paramedics can give you information about your condition and can connect you to other health providers like doctors, dentists, allied health and mental health workers.

Who can use the Community Paramedic clinic?

The Community Paramedic clinic is for adults who have chronic (ie. long-term) health problems or are at risk of developing one. The program aims to provide health support that is local and easy to access.

Can I bring my child to see the Community Paramedic?

No, the Community Paramedic clinic is only for adults.

Do I need a Medicare card?

No, you don’t need a Medicare card to use the Community Paramedic clinic.

No, the Community Paramedic can’t prescribe medicine like doctors and some nurses can.

The Community Paramedic clinic provides health care to people in their own community, making it easier and more accessible for people to address and manage chronic health conditions. Many people in the North Richmond community are faced with barriers to health care and have difficulty accessing services. By delivering care in the community and providing health support for chronic conditions before they become urgent, the Community Paramedic clinic helps strengthen our community and support a more sustainable local health system.

What is a CP@Clinic?

CP@Clinic is the name of the Community Paramedic service model delivered by North Richmond Community Health. The CP@Clinic model is an evidence-based program developed by McMaster University in Canada and delivered worldwide. North Richmond Community Health is the first health service in metropolitan Melbourne to deliver CP@Clinic services.
