With summer on the way, it’s important for your health to keep cool. Our Nutrition and Dietetics team has shared some great tips to help with keeping cool for the hot days ahead:
- Drink water and cool drinks before you’re thirsty. Waiting until you are thirsty is too late, as your body is already dehydrated.
- It is important to decrease your body temperature by having cool drinks, using cool towels, putting your feet in cool water, or having a cool bath or shower (not cold).
- Take a water bottle with you when going out.
- Block out the sun at home and sit in the shade when outdoors.
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from natural fibres i.e. cotton or linen.
- Eat small light meals and cold meals more often i.e. salads
- Avoid intense exercise.
