Join us for International Overdose Awareness Day at NRCH

Thursday 31 August is International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). This day is an opportunity to remember those who’ve lost their lives from overdose and to recognise the immense grief and loss felt by family and friends. IOAD also aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention and to remove the stigma surrounding overdose.

This year’s theme – Recognising those people who go unseen – pays tribute to the people whose lives have been touched by overdose, including all the family, friends and workers who act as overdose lifesavers. Since MSIR opened in 2018 and during the decades prior, many NRCH staff have been impacted by overdose and have done tremendous work in supporting those at risk of overdose.

NRCH will be holding a community event to mark the day. We hope you can join us:

When: Thursday 31 August | 3pm – 5pm

Where: Out the front, North Richmond Community Healthy, 23 Lennox St, Richmond

What’s happening:

  • Speakers. including a Welcome to Country and our new CEO Simone Heald.
  • BBQ, finger food and refreshments
  • Candlelight vigil to remember those lost to overdose.
