Join us on 31 August for Overdose Awareness Day

Aug 24, 2017Latest News

On Thursday 31 August, we will be marking Overdose Awareness Day with a free community event.

All are welcome to join us as we remember those we have lost to overdose.

The event will include:

  • Free barbecue
  • Welcome to Country ceremony
  • Speakers from the local community, Ambulance Victoria and North Richmond Community Health
  • A memorial service for those whose lives were lost to overdose.

North Richmond Community Health faces the impact of overdose every day. We respond directly to overdoses, monitor people at risk of overdose and help minimise the harms associated with drug use.  Drug related deaths have taken a huge toll on our community, and we believe many of them are preventable.

At Overdose Awareness Day, we will be reiterating our support for a supervised injecting facility.

We offer our sincerest condolences to all people whose lives have been touched by overdoses, and promise to continue fighting to save lives.

All are welcome at our Overdose Awareness Day event. If you would like to share information about this event, you can download a flyer here.

This event will take place on land owned by the Wurundjeri people. We pay our respects to elders past and present.
