North Richmond Community Health has taken another significant step towards improving the integration of oral health and primary health care in Australia. Five of our staff members presented at the 2nd Asia Pacific Conference for Integrated Care (APIC2) in Melbourne, 11-13th November.

North Richmond Community Health is proud to be a 2019 conference knowledge partner and not only introduce oral health into the conference agenda for the first time, but ensure it was highlighted as a key theme. Over the three-day conference, our team facilitated several talks, a panel discussion and the official launch of Australia’s first Network for Integrated Oral Health (NIOH).

Oral Health is essential to our overall health and wellbeing yet in our health care system, the mouth is separated out from the body.

Our conference sessions highlighted ways in which North Richmond Community Health and other organisations across Australia, the Asia-Pacific, and as far as the USA, are working towards increasing the accessibility of oral health care in aged care and primary health care, and in particular for lower socioeconomic groups.

Our involvement in APIC2 and NIOH continues the progress we have made through our Oral Health and Integrated Care conference series.
