Close the Gap 2023

The Close the Gap campaign is an opportunity for us all to urge our governments to take meaningful and measurable action in support of achieving health equity for First Nations Peoples by 2032. The Close the Gap campaign is not only about improving health outcomes for First Nations Peoples, but it is also underpinned by the belief that when First Nations Peoples have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, we can see real progress towards closing the gap.

At North Richmond Community Health (NRCH), we understand the importance of working with and empowering First Nations communities. We have strong relationships with First Nations communities, and many of our clients are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We recognise the unique health challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples face, and we are committed to providing culturally appropriate care and working in partnership with Indigenous communities to improve health outcomes.

NRCH has completed the first phase of the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) by implementing all 29 recommendations of the Reflect RAP, which involved engaging with First Nations communities to develop a deeper understanding of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The completion of this first phase is an important milestone, but there is still much work to be done towards reconciliation and closing the gap in health outcomes for First Nations Peoples.

To support the Close the Gap campaign, NRCH will be hosting a Community BBQ on Thursday 16 March. The event will feature a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, and an opportunity to come together, share information and, demand greater health equity for First Nations Peoples:

When: Thursday 16 March | 12:30pm – 2pm
Where: At the front of NRCH, 23 Lennox St, Richmond VIC
