Save the date - our 50th celebrations

On Friday 25 October we came together for a vibrant and uplifting celebration for the 50th anniversary of North Richmond Community Health (NRCH).

The event brought together the local community, clients, supporters, and both current and former staff, for a fabulous afternoon filled with joy, nostalgia, and pride. We enjoyed live performances, notably from Xuhi Nguyen whose captivating violin playing enchanted the crowd, NRCH’s very own Betty La serenading us with her phenomenal talent and DJ Seif kept the tunes flowing. We were treated to delicious food from Cultural Catering. A variety of fun activities kept all ages entertained, with the smoothie bike being a crowd favourite.

We were honoured to also be joined by the Hon. Minister Ingrid Stitt MP, Minister for Mental Health, Minister for Ageing and Minister for Multicultural Affairs. Since our establishment in 1974, the Victorian Government’s unwavering support has enabled us to expand our services, respond to emerging community needs, and maintain our commitment to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to our diverse local community.

Importantly, we heard from two well-known members of our community, Hatice and Penelope, who shared how NRCH has been a vital part of the community, supporting their needs and critical to their wellbeing.

It was also a thrill to showcase some of the work from the local history project that’s been brought together by historians from the Australian Catholic University and Well Chosen Words as part of the Local History Grants Program supported by Public Record Office Victoria and the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund. We will be unveiling more of this work in the coming weeks – stay tuned for updates!

As we look ahead to the future, this celebration reminds us of the importance of community and the role we all play in shaping the next 50 years of togetherness.
