This June, BreastScreen Victoria’s mobile van is visiting North Richmond Community Health to bring free breast screens right to your door. No need to travel, no cost, and no doctor’s referral required.
Recently, North Richmond Community Health hosted a free breast health information session in partnership with BreastScreen Victoria, with a second session still to come on Friday 12 June, please feel free to join us at that session if you’d like to learn more. These sessions give women in our community the chance to learn more about breast screening in a welcoming, multilingual setting. If you missed the session and can’t make the next one, the van visit is your next opportunity to take action.
Why breast screening matters
We know that for many women in our community, breast screening can feel difficult. Fear, uncertainty, language and cultural differences, or not being able to visit a clinic can all make it feel too hard. That’s why we’ve partnered with BreastScreen Victoria to bring free breast screening services closer to home – because having a breast screen is vital for your health.
Breast screens can find cancer when it’s still too small to feel, even by a doctor. The sooner cancer is found, the better the health outcomes. If you are aged 50 to 74 with no breast symptoms, a free 10-minute breast screen every two years is recommended. It could save your life.
