Breast screen information sessions

North Richmond Community Health is hosting free women-only breast health information sessions this June, in partnership with BreastScreen Victoria. Whether you have questions about breast screening, aren’t sure if it’s right for you, or simply want to learn more, these sessions are a welcoming space to get the information you need – with lunch provided.

Why breast screening matters?

We know that for many women in our community, breast screening can feel difficult. Fear, uncertainty, language and cultural differences, or not being able to visit a clinic can all make it feel too hard. That’s why we’ve partnered with BreastScreen Victoria to bring free breast screening services closer to home – because having a breast screen is important for your health.

Breast screens can find cancer when it’s still too small to feel, even by a doctor. The sooner cancer is found, the better the health outcomes. If you are aged 50 to 74 with no breast symptoms, a free 10-minute breast screen every two years is recommended. It could save your life.

About the sessions

The sessions are open to women aged 50 to 74 and will be held at the North Richmond Community Hub, 110 Elizabeth Street, Richmond.

  • English, Mandarin and Hakka: Friday 5 June, 1pm – 3pm
  • English and Vietnamese: Friday 12 June, 1pm – 3pm

Lunch is provided at both sessions.

Coming soon – the BreastScreen Victoria mobile van

Can’t make a session? Later in June, BreastScreen Victoria’s mobile van will visit North Richmond Community Health from 15 – 24 June, bringing free breast screens right to our community. Look out for more information soon.
