Attributable to a North Richmond Community Health spokesperson:

“North Richmond Community Health is committed to making changes to our Alcohol and Other Drugs program as recommended by Dr Flynn.”

“We will now work with staff and key stakeholders to effect changes as soon as possible.”

Background

North Richmond Community Health accepts in full the findings of Dr Joanna Flynn’s independent review into our Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) program.

Dr Joanna Flynn and her team conducted interviews at all levels across our organisation. North Richmond Community Health directors, management and staff were cooperative and responsive to the review team’s requests and questions.

North Richmond Community Health is carefully assessing the findings of the review and has already begun implementing all recommendations in consultation with our staff and key stakeholders.

The two employees involved in the incident on 24 October have been stood down. The reforms to the AOD program recommended by the Flynn Review will ensure we continue to provide quality community care while delivering the critical work of the medically supervised injecting room (MSIR) trial.

In addition, North Richmond Community Health will be recruiting a new general manager for clinical services, who will provide greater oversight of the Alcohol and Other Drugs program and other programs.
