We are joining the global Chatty Café movement! Next week, North Richmond Community Health is launching a Chatty Café where community members can drop in and grab a free coffee (or tea). If people are keen to chat with others, they can take a seat at our ‘Have a chat’ table in the café, otherwise people can simply hang out and enjoy the atmosphere.
What is a Chatty Café?
The Chatty Café Scheme is a global movement to help bring people together, reduce loneliness and build social connections within local communities.
Who is it for?
Everyone is welcome. People on their own, in a couple, with a friend, carers, people with babies and children, grandparents – people of all ages and all walks of life.
Why are we doing this?
North Richmond Community Health want to support our local community to connect socially in a safe and comfortable environment. We know chatting with others is so beneficial for our mental and physical health, it also builds social connection, reduces stress and boosts mood.
I’m now very connected. I have a wonderful friendship group now thanks to Chatty Cafe
What to expect?
There’s no pressure to chat. There will be a “Have a chat” table for those keen to chat, but there’s no obligation. We realise everyone, particularly those coming for their first time, might not feel comfortable yet to chat. It’s simply great to come along, get out of the house and be around others. Feel free to grab a coffee and sit quietly if that’s your thing.
Do I need to book?
There is no need to book. Simply turn up on the day and join in.
