Grounds Renewal Project

The Grounds Renewal Project aims to create safe, appropriate and accessible spaces for all members of the community in response to feedback asking us to improve the grounds surrounding our facility.

Based on engagements conducted to date, our design team drafted plans that improved the landscaping and facilities surrounding NRCH’s buildings so we can provide care, support and services for clients and community in a more inviting and supportive outdoor space.

The project improves the way external spaces are used to provide additional services and support for the whole community.

The draft landscape plans were presented for feedback through several community and stakeholder consultation activities in 2022.

Following delays due to COVID-19,Β  the rising cost of construction and changes to the project, the project has recommenced with construction scheduled to start in early 2025.

Changes to the project

In April 2024, a consortium of service providers led by NRCH was appointed to run the Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR) for the next three years, enabling the project to recommence.

In the same month, Homes Victoria was appointed to lead the project management and oversee the delivery of capital works – including procurement, site preparation and construction – to meet the requirements and manage the funding.

Under this new arrangement, NRCH will continue being responsible for communications and engagement related to the project, including project governance and decisions regarding the scope and design of the project.
