Sep 30, 2020Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Three new community health and support workers joined the North Richmond Community Health team in August to help with our COVID-19 Help and Support Model. You may have seen the new staff members working at our COVID-19 information desk situated on the North Richmond Estate grounds or assisting our mobile team who are visiting residents to provide COVID-19 information and face masks.

John Nguyen, Maria Jong and Lual Maker are all North Richmond residents with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Jong was born in East Timor, but has been living in Richmond for more than 20 years. Our new team members can relate first-hand to the experiences of North Richmond residents and provide important health and support information in other languages, including Vietnamese and Chinese. “I have a personal mission of community development and love to see others grow, flourishing into who they are intended to be”, said Nguyen.
