Pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic

July 12 2020

To help support the health and wellbeing of our local community during this challenging time, North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) established a pop-up coronavirus (COVID-19) testing clinic.

The site was first opened on Sunday 12 July 2020 and offered COVID-19 tests and free face masks to the residents of the North Richmond housing estate and local community.

The testing site helps us to better understand and minimise the spread of COVID-19 and help pre-emptively protect our local community.

NRCH is committed to working closely with community leaders and the residents of North Richmond to help keep our community safe and informed.

Below you will find important information about the clinic, including the latest opening hours and how to access support.

Why should you get tested?

By getting tested, you will help slow the spread of COVID-19 and help to keep yourself safe and your community safe.

What you need to bring to get tested

You will need to provide:

  • your name
  • date of birth
  • a form of identification (for example, your Medicare card, ImmiCard, driver’s licence or student identification card)
  • a mobile contact phone number so that you can be contacted with your results.

You do not need to provide:

  • your visa status

The test is free for everyone

The coronavirus (COVID-19) test is free for everyone. This includes people without a Medicare card, such as visitors from overseas, migrant workers and asylum seekers.

What does the test involve?

The test takes around a minute and involves taking a sample swab from the back of your throat and nose. The test seeks to identify the presence of coronavirus (COVID-19) and is not analysed for alcohol or other drugs.

Over a million Victorians (one in seven) have already taken this test. Once the test is complete, your sample is sent to a laboratory and tested to see if you have coronavirus (COVID-19).

Your results

You will need to provide a mobile phone number so we can contact you with your results.

Other NRCH health services

Our other health services will continue to operate as usual with the majority of our services utilising Telehealth during COVID-19.

The Medically Supervised Injecting Room (MSIR) is following strict health and safety protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Support, including COVID-19 tests and free face masks, will be offered to MSIR clients.
