NRCH Grounds Transform as Stage 2 Progresses

The Grounds Renewal Project is making significant progress, with Stage 1 now complete and Stage 2 well underway.

Stage 1 of the project has successfully concluded, with newly paved footpaths now open to the public. The improved paths offer enhanced access to our buildings from Lennox Street, creating a more welcoming entry point for clients and visitors. Temporary fencing remains in place around freshly laid lawn areas to allow time for proper establishment before the project’s completion.

“Seeing the first stage completed is incredibly rewarding,” said Simone Heald, Chief Executive Officer at NRCH. “These improvements are already making a positive difference in how people access and experience our facilities.”

Stage 2 commenced in early May and is progressing on schedule. This phase includes:

● Enhanced landscaping to create a more appealing environment
● Upgraded lighting to improve safety and visibility
● Fresh concrete work to improve durability and accessibility
● New screening and greenery to separate East and West Building paths

The work is expected to be completed by mid-2025. During this phase, access to NRCH facilities remains a priority, with multiple entry and exit points maintained throughout construction.

“It’s been wonderful to hear such positive feedback from staff and clients. Our community deserves a space we can all feel proud of”, said Simone.

The Grounds Renewal Project is a joint partnership between North Richmond Community Health, Homes Victoria, and the Victorian Department of Health.

“This partnership demonstrates our collective commitment to creating safer, more accessible, and welcoming spaces for everyone who uses our services,” said Hannah McVean, Manager of Community Engagement. “We’re grateful for the community’s patience during construction and excited to see the positive impact these improvements will have.”
