North Richmond Community Health (NRCH) is proud to be the first health service in metropolitan Melbourne to deliver the Community Paramedicine at Clinic (CP@clinic ) program – a Community Paramedic service to help us bring health care directly to our community.
What is the Community Paramedic clinic?
Our Community Paramedic clinic (CP@clinic) provides free, accessible health care for adults living in North Richmond. Community Paramedics are specialists in non-emergency care, trained to help people manage long-term (chronic) health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and weight management – before they become more serious.
The clinic is free, and no Medicare card is required. You can either drop-in or make an appointment.
Who is it for?
The clinic is open to all adults (18 and over) in the North Richmond community. You don’t need a referral or a Medicare card, and interpreter services are available at no cost.
What can a Community Paramedic help with?
Our Community Paramedics can help with the following services:
- Health checks
- Blood pressure and diabetes management
- Mental health check-ins
- Support with personal health goals
- Referrals to other health professionals and services
Why have a CP@clinic in North Richmond?
Many people in North Richmond face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. CP@clinic brings care directly into the community, making it easier for people to get support – without needing to navigate the broader health system. The clinic welcomes drop-in visits and has no Medicare card requirement, making it accessible to everyone – including those without a regular GP or with limited English.
By supporting people with chronic conditions early – before they become urgent or complex – CP@clinic also helps reduce pressure on hospitals and emergency services. Community Paramedics work alongside our GPs and other health professionals, strengthening rather than replacing existing care.
CP@clinic is an evidence-based model that has been running successfully in regional areas of Australia. We are proud to be the first metropolitan Melbourne health service to bring it to an urban community.
About the CP@clinic model
CP@clinic is an evidence-based program developed by the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and delivered worldwide. In Australia, the program is implemented and evaluated in collaboration with McMaster University and La Trobe University’s Violet Vines Marshman Centre for Rural Health Research.
NRCH is the first metropolitan Melbourne health service to bring this model to our community – a significant milestone in our commitment to making health care local, accessible, and equitable.
Visit the CP@clinic
You’ll find us at the North Richmond Community Hub, 110 Elizabeth Street, Richmond.
