The Fitzroy Legal Service now offers a family violence and family law service at North Richmond Community Health.

Family lawyer Ella Crotty will be attending the service to provide legal assistance and advice to female clients on a range of issues relating to family law and family violence.

Legal assistance can be provided in relation to:

  • parenting matters
  • Family Violence Intervention Order matters
  • divorce.

Day and time: Thursdays fortnightly, from 2.00pm to 5.00pm
One hour appointments can be booked for 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.

Bookings:
Bookings can be made by email to ecrotty(at)fitzroy-legal.org.au.

Please provide:

  • Your name and date of birth
  • Other party’s name and date of birth

Please note that this service doesn’t include certain kinds of legal assistance. The lawyer will not be able to represent a client with the following legal issues but may be able to provide advice and referrals:

  • Urgent matters: Fitzroy Legal Service has limited resources and staff so unfortunately we are not equipped to help clients with urgent matters. Examples of matters that are urgent in family law are where there is a risk that the children will be taken overseas by the other parent or where the other parent has taken the children and they need to be “recovered”.
  • Property matters: Our lawyer attending North Richmond Community Health does not have expertise in property matters. There is another family lawyer at Fitzroy Legal Service who has this experience but he only works part time and has limited capacity.
  • Child Protection: Fitzroy Legal Service’s family lawyers do not have experience in child protection legal issues.
  • Child Support: Fitzroy Legal Service’s family lawyers do not have experience in child support legal issues.

For general legal advice and assistance not relating to family law and family violence matters, appointments can be made for our Tuesday evening outreach service by calling (03) 9419 3744.
